Effect of Figaron on the Organogenesis from Cabbage (Brassica oleracea L. var . capitata) Hypocotyl Segments Cultured in vitro

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of figaron (ethyl 5-chloro-1H-3-indazolyacetate), which has been known to be one of the maturity accelerating substance, on the morphogenesis and organogenesis in hypocotyl segments of cabbage.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. The middle maturing variety (Susuki) showed remarkable regeneration rate on Murashige & Skoog (MS) medium containing figaron 10^(-6)M alone or both figaron 10^(-6)M and kinetin 2 ¡¿ 10^(-6)M.
2. Considerable regeneration rate obtained from the hypocotyl segments of early maturing variety(CM) cultured on medium containing figaron 10^(-6)M alone or figaron 10^(-6)M plus benzyladenine (BA) 2 ¡¿ 10^(-7)M.
3. The late maturing variety (U ME) showed better regenerating ratio on medium containing figaron 10^(-6)M plus BA 2 ¡¿ 10^(-5)M.
4. Adventitious bud was developed from hypocotyl surface on either BA 2 ¡¿ 10^(-6)M or 2 ¡¿ 10^(-5)M for red cabbage.
5. The plantlet development was observed on upper cut surface of hypocotyl segments cultured on medium with figaron 10^(-6)M alone, however, the multiple shoots were regenerated from callus on medium with figaron 10^(-6)M and cytokinin.
